Who We Are

The Bauddha Dharmankure Sabha (Bengal Buddhist Association) was founded in the year 1892 by the Most Ven’ble Kripasaran Mahasthavir to work for the revival and regeneration of Buddhism in the land of its birth. As we all know Buddhism in India had lost its vibrancy due to man-made misery and nature’s fury but survived in the lands where it had been taken by King Devanampiya Asoka’s Son Mahinda and Daughter Sanghamitra since the 3rd century B.C.​​

AN APPEAL
The Bouddha Dharmankur Sabha (Bengal Buddhist Association) is a socio-religious-culture and philanthropic organization established in 1892. Activities carried out by the organization are possible due to the generosity of the people who are associated with it. It is their large hearted magnanimity that makes it possible for us to go forward with so many of our projects and dreams that our Founding Fathers had dreamt.

Dharamshala Stay
Although intended for Buddhist students, anyone can stay in these simple rooms, which are unadorned except for the window bars shaped into lama form. Shared bathrooms are basic but have geysers. A couple of rooms have AC and private bathrooms. The courtyard location is quiet. And to keep it that way gates are locked from 10.30pm to 5am with no way in, so forget nightlife.
